Hello
and welcome! Our names are Benoit and Andrea Cibangu. Benoit is from the
Democratic Republic of Congo and Andrea from the
United Kingdom
. But God has called us
from two different continents to
Japan
to serve Him as
missionaries with OMF International.
OMF is an
international, interdenominational evangelical Christian mission, founded
in the nineteenth century by a British man called James Hudson Taylor as
the ‘China Inland Mission’ reaching out to the vast unreached millions
of Chinese people living away from the main seaport cities.
The mission
served faithfully in
China
for nearly one hundred
years before being forcibly removed by the government in the early 1950s.
At that point the China Inland Mission started reaching out to the
countries surrounding
China
and its name changed
to the Overseas Missionary Fellowship (now OMF International).
OMF has
been working in
Japan
for over fifty years
now, and we are part of a team of around one hundred missionaries reaching
the Japanese people with the message of Hope through Christ Jesus. Please
click on the OMF logo below or ‘Links’ to learn more about OMF international.
We live in Saitama prefecture in
Japan
, just north of
Tokyo
. Many people live here
and daily commute into
Tokyo
for work. The prefectural capital city is Saitama city and we live in
the south-eastern part of the city.
We are involved in a church called ‘
Saitama
International
Church
’. It has around
20-25 active members and we hold two services every Sunday, one in English
and the main service in Japanese.
We are part of a team of missionaries
(two couples and ourselves), although our vision is not so much centered
on the church as in reaching out to the students at the nearby
Saitama
University.
Please click on the
‘Call and Vision’ and ‘Current Ministry’ links above to learn more about what
we feel the Lord is calling us to do and about the church in Saitama.
As you can imagine, our individual histories and how the Lord called us to
Japan
are vastly different.
Please click on our individual links to hear the stories of how the
Lord led us here and into partnership with each other!
